Coming to an End

If you’ve stopped by lately, you know that this last year has been the busiest in the life of my family. We have moved forward in the launch of a business, pulled together for months for extended family that needed help in a precarious situation, spent 7 weeks in Poland, adopted twin boys, hunted and closed on a house, and now we are land lords.

It has been an e-ticket ride to say the least.

Much has been learned as we’ve moved through these growing pains. One of the last few things I’ve been learning is that I have got to close Remnants of My Life. While I love blogging and plan on doing so in the future, Remnants must stop.

Those of you who have used Remnants to follow our adoption and pray for us, I can not offer thanks enough to you. It is very humbling to know that there are people out there in the world praying for us whom we’ve never met, nor are likely to. For this I can only pray that your blessings to my family are returned to you one thousand fold.

Honored to be of the Remnant,
Mrs. L

Missing Persons

Yes, I’ve fallen off the face of the earth.

Well, not quite, but almost.

Two weeks ago we got a phone call telling us an offer we had made on a house had been accepted. We weren’t expecting it, and then were doubly surprised when they said we close in two weeks.

That would be today.

Last week I had serious packing time, long uninterrupted days at home. The guest room, girls room, dining room, Chaos (head quarters for Kits and Caboodles – think “Get Smart”), library were all done.

Then this week hit.

Monday: Pack the office (Warning – when you have built in shelves and cabinets, this could be dangerous. Do you know how much stuff can accumulate in there?)

Tuesday morning – final walk through/pack office
Tuesday afternoon – clean house for potential renters to walk through at 5:30
Tuesday evening – potential renters pull a no-show

Wednesday morning – sign documents/pack office
Wednesday afternoon – girls to rehearsal, boys and I to Costco to get supplies for . . .
Wednesday evening – dinner with friends who were coaching us on owning rental property

Thursday morning – ND appointment for the boys
Thursday afternoon – Pack office and Violin/viola recital and reception
Thursday evening – pick up boxes and meals from Sue to carry us through the weekend

Friday morning – hide in bed
Friday morning after coffee – pull it together, pack
Friday afternoon – get the truck
Friday evening – Good Friday service, load the truck

Today is my first full day home this week to just crank. I’m going to start in the boys room, then move through some misc stuff in Chaos and the dining room, pack up cds and dvds in the living room and then . . . (can you hear the theme from Jaws in crescendo?) the KITCHEN!

After that it just may be official. I’ll be ready for a truck in the late afternoon, and I’ll certainly be ready for a margarita by evening.

Do you have a family?

Whether it’s a biological family or a church family, do you have a family?

If so, you are blessed.

Did you know that?

If you’re not sure head over to My Crazy Family and have a read.

Checking In

I'm not dead.

I've been sick for a long time, busy with two big ventures, several smaller projects, and a son who needs figuring out.

There's an adventure going on here, and I'll post about it within the next week.

Until then I'm off to my normal routine.

Tea, cough, nap, tea, cough, nap, tea, cough, nap.

Wah!

Photos of February

I has been a busy month, but not with anything in particular. Just life! Here's a peek . . .

Chapter 1 - Boys and Laundry

First, a boy simply can not be an offical American citizen until he's seen Star Wars and then (of course) gets his own Light Saber.

I've also continued to learn that boy laundry is very different than girl laundry. Before we would have several piles of pale pink, medium pink and red, full of panties, slips, peticoats, skirts, camisoles, bras and tights.

Now we have this . . .

Chapter 2 - The Book Sale

Every February is the big book sale in Phoenix and Sue and I always go. Up at 5:45am, coffee stop at 6:15, her house at 6:30, on site at 7:00, doors open at 8:00. We were in the first wave and did great. Among other treasures I picked up these . . .

And in the 'sets' department I couldn't pass these up. I have never read them, but will preview a few for the boys.

Chapter Three - The Staple

Then the other day the boys were making cards while I snoozed on the couch. (That was my first mistake.) I was awoken by a concerned looking Rose with J next to her. He was holding out his thumb sporting a staple firmly planted within. This tough boy really jumped when I tried to remove it, so I decided to seek outside help.

We threw shoes on and loaded up in the van to head to Urgent Care, but the van door wouldn't close! Thankfully, Mrs. W was home (just two doors down) and loaned us her vehicle. Rose assisted me getting J to Urgent Care where we waited for Mr. L to meet us. Upon his arrival Rose and I left to return the car and get home to Daisy and S.

FOUR HOURS LATER they got home. After x-rays confirming that the staple was not in the bone, the Doctor simply pulled it out. (Mental Note - next time just yank it out!)

Chapter 4 - The Shoe Shine Boys

Mr L spent last night cleaning various things that men clean, including his shoes. Well, you know that what Tata does, the boys must also do.

S First!

I'm pretty sure that Mr L is the last man on the planet who shines his shoes. But now the baton has been passed.

J next!

Inspection passed!

I'm exhausted just reviewing the month. It is time for a nap, isn't it?

Greeting the Puritans

Since becoming a Sudoku junkie this past December I have been spending more time solving puzzles than reading. BUT – I’ve stumbled upon this. I love a challenge, need to change my Sudoku habits, and desperately need growing wisdom in my faith, so am jumping in. I’ve missed January, but am pretty sure I can jump in here in February. I don’t have all the books, but most, and can either substitute or purchase as those months come up.

Pray for my persistence!

Puppy Breath

I have recently learned that when little boys go outside to enjoy play on a warm day, even if for only 5 minutes, they invariably come in smelling like puppy breath.

It is 54 degrees outside and yet this phenomena is still so.

WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THAT TO ME?
